anyway the highlight of the day is no doubt badminton at SRC...genie came to pick me up at ard 10 at clementi mrt...our plan initially was to get some work done too...bobian lah term break is like that one...clear our geotech assignment...den discuss a bit on our respective physics essays...but who knows our hands itchy den decided to go straight to SRC to start our badminton rallies earlier...haha...a sign of things to come for the day...
wah the courts are so damn packed today...we thought term break all the chao muggers will be at home mugging...den go into MPSH 5 was quite surprised to see so many courts occupied...we never book any court in advance as usual...so juz hoping nobody come ard to disrupt our game anytime soon...but luck ran out at the climax of the game...nb really...this group came over and ask us whether we got book our court and ask to see the receipt somemore...wah lau eh...timing cannot be better lah...of coz we didn't book lah and have to give way...later den realise we should have asked for their booking receipt too...haha that will be too bastard lah i guess...no choice leave the court den hang ard before alwyn suggest go his hall to check it out since their communal hall might be free...
so with that 4 of us packed into xiao hong and scoot off to TH...check out alwyn's room for a while den head to the communal hall...Disaster strikes again!! there's some function at the hall and tables and chairs already line up at wad was supposed to be the badminton court...wah lau is Heaven punishing us for not doing our work first ah den go and play badminton straight?? haha...damn suay lah
as we were clearly still in the peak of the "shuttling" mood...decided to go back to SRC to see anybody left already den got free court anot...if not juz go bathe and start doing some solid work lah...which we were suppose to do in the 1st place lah...haha really jokers waste time running from SRC to TH den back to SRC again when pple are queuing up to go in Central Library (Yes...the whole forum was packed and streams of pple were going to the Lib lah...haha...NUS wad ya expect)
Wah damn heng got one court free...with that we quickly plunge in...which reminds me of the state we are reduced in for not booking the court in advance...we are basically like "Court Scavengers"...like the crows hovering ard the food at Tekka hawker center...like the wildwood boardwalk penguins hovering ard leftover pizzas (and who can forget one of the sickening penguin took my beef patty away!! nb)...played like one good solid hour before another group of comrades came and chase us in a somewhat unfriendly manner...these pple ah...sch time trash us in grades...n now holiday also come and cha siao our fun...damn irritating really...all these ah tiongs...
anyway had our fair fun of badminton already so dun geh kao...instead of going to wash up den kuai kuai do our assignments...end up we decide to take the football frm xiao hong's boot and go the handball court and have some kickarounds...hahaha...say wanna do work end up play whole day...really cannot blame lah...we are a bunch of restless, full of vigour young adult men who have simply too much energy to expand...
ken watches helplessly as the ball whizzes into the net
genie "kneeling" the ball away
epitomising the aspects of the beautiful game...strength, power, accuracy, grace, poise, flair and the list goes on...
Ken throwing his imaginary discus at SRC
alwyn readies to take the shot!! and what a beauty that was...wheewee
and ken strikes into the bottom corner of the net!
here it comes genie eyeing the ball with those fiery predator instincts
ken readies to pounce on that deadly header of his
showing off some nifty footwork across the face of goal
alwyn prepares to dive and make another wonderful save
genie lining up to shoot...!!
and straight at the keeper...nothing seems to go past him today!!
aft the match the players go ard doing their lap of honour in an empty stadiumwent CGH at night to visit Ah Ma...Ah Ma has been warded there since Sun for breathing difficulties and pain to lower limbs...initially was quite serious as the docs told Pa and my uncles to inform all the relatives to come and visit her and prepare for the worst...but somehow her condition miraculously improved the last few days...really a miracle i would say...and hopefully her condition keeps improving and can be discharged in no time...so sad she can't even recognise me when i call her...my fault really...haven't been visiting her often these days since i came back...muz make it a point to visit her at least once a month lah...
a funny thought juz came to my mind when visiting ah ma...juz realise i haven't seen some of my uncles, aunties and cousins for a while...some for quite a few years in fact...it's only when ocassions like these that bring us together...got joyous times like my cousin's wedding some 5 or 6 years back...and also sorrow times like my youngest uncle's funeral few years ago...somemore past few years haven't been celebrating CNY in singapore...my family have been going back to batu pahat to my other ah ma's house (the place where my happiest childhood memories hold)...can't blame lah really...juz closer to my malaysia cousins den s'pore ones...but juz sad lah...growing up realise cousins actually are very good networks of contacts...esp the older ones who step out to the workforce and can advise u on the job markets and prospects...juz find it wasted like never really cultivate and establish our relationships properly lah...but in the 1st place...how many of us in today s'pore's context can say we are close to our cousins? most would juz do away with those formality CNY greetings every year and that's about it...den nxt year juz repeat again...but of coz there are exceptional cases...however i dare say most s'pore extended families fall into the above sorry scenario...s'poreans are juz too busy scoring As in sch and den chasing their 5Cs when they graduate issn't it
went for dinner with Pa, Mummy and Ying at Bedok Interchange Market aft that...Hong stuck in sch with projects...wah this sem she seems even more busy den me sia...
Bedok Hokkien mee...my first plate since i came back
family feast...chicken wings...soon kueh...nasi lemak...fried oysters and char kway teow
Bedok Central hawker center...one of the more famous eastern hawker centers ard
